I just got a copy of The Animation Bible, a book by Maureen Furniss (Ph.D) of the Animation Faculty at CalArts in Los Angeles.This very lenghty book touches about every topic there is on animation. From conception, pre-production, making a pitch, budgeting, actual development, history, techniques … the list goes on.

He recibido una copia de The Animation Bible, un libro por Maureen Furniss (Ph.D) de la Facultad de Animación en CalArts de Los Angeles. Este bastante extenso libro toca mas o menos todos los temas que hay acerca de la animación. Desde la concepción y conceptualización, presentación inicial, presupuestos, desarollo, historia, tecnicas… la lista de temas continua.

I had the great honor of being referenced under the chapter titled “Digital Media and Computer Animation” as one of the many case studies covered troughout the book, for my participation on the Flipbook! project, developed for Fabrica‘s Interactive department.

I’ve received the PLA award in the category of interactive media for my participation on the Flipbook! Deluxe installation at the Triennale in Milan.
These awards are always a good party. All the people from advertising agencies take the night off and go to this thing. You walk on a red/orange carpet at the entrance and theres a tv show host welcoming people and doing interviews! The awards are presented by local celebrities, for example: Click here to see a pic of me with Miss Colombia!. Afterwards there is free alcohol! yey!

The 54th edition of Proyecto Diseño features all the nominees for the XI edition of the PLA (Iron Pencil) Design award aimed at Colombian professionals. This year they have 95 finalist projects in 21 categories in areas of design like architecture, product design, clothing design, graphics, Internet among others.

2 of my projects compete against each other on the Interactive Design category, which pretty much means i win by default.

La número 54 de la revista Proyecto Diseño presenta todos los nominados a la XI edición de los Premios Lapiz de Acero. Este año cuentan con 95 finalistas en 21 categorias como arquitectura, producto, modas, gráfica e Internet entre otras.

2 de mis proyectos compiten entre si en la categoría de Diseño Interactivo, lo cual quiere decir que gano “por W”.

I got this letter from the PLA. It’s a design awards show organized by Proyecto Diseño magazine. It’s not a HUGE deal but it is the biggest award in the country and possibly Latin America (unless you count all those commercial advertising agency awards, which are just plain evil).

I submitted WCSMT and my participation on the Flipbook! Deluxe at the Milano Triennale. They are both nominated.

I went to the ceremony last year, because some friends of mine were nominated. It was pretty fun, they had all sorts of local “sort of famous” people presenting the awards, free goodies, an after party full of free beer and they even had a red carpet, tv coverage and a tv host who was just at the entrance gretting people and saying the same things over and over again. Oh! I really want to go again this year.

Colombian newspaper “El Tiempo” features Colombian war games in today’s front page. The article covers Colombian artists who have made works that criticize Colombia’s armed groups and it’s related to public demostrations against FARC (organizaed by citizents via facebook) , that have already taken place in different location across the world (by Colombian inmigrants) and that will take place in Colombia itself this February the 4th.

El periodico Colombiano “El Tiempo” publica hoy en su pagina principal a Juegos de Guerra Colombianos como parte de un articulo donde se muestran obras de artistas Colombianos que hemos criticado a los grupos armados en el país. El articulo esta relacionado a las marchas en contra de las FARC organizadas por ciudadanos Colombianos en todo el mundo y que tendran lugar en Colombia este 4 de febrero.
