Webcam-stop-motion-thing temporarly disabled (digg effect)

UPDATE: I’ve finally secured a dedicated server and right the app is being copyed over. I hope to have everything running again sometime next week - We are back!

The web-cam-stop-motion-thing got posted on the front page of digg and in less than an hour the server was destroyed thanks to the digg effect.

I got this letter from my host saying it was taking up more than 20% for processor load and so they have pulled the plug. I’m talking to them about upgrading to have things back up soon. (it was about time i did anyway)

Yey! i was on digg

PS: still need some animation goodness? why not check out Sketchstar (beta) in the meantime?

Doh, I bookmarked it so I could check it when it didn’t take a minute to load half a page…..and now its gone! :(

Good (or bad?) thing about the “Digg Effect” is many people won’t bother coming back if its down the first time they check, so your probably “safe” to put it back up now. But I guess it IS bad because you could have got so many subscribing readers to your blog….

Should get a slice (http://slicehost.com) to stop it happening again. Or of course any other dedicated server / VPS. (I am not affiliated with slicehost, btw! Just love the VPSes because they start at a nice cheap price ;)

I managed to create one ‘thing’ before the site went down (see my site), i was half way through my second when it crashed.

Brilliant fun though - can’t wait for you to come back up! (especially since someone told me there were boobies appearing!) ;)

fLUx, thanks for the suggestion. I think i will use it because hostrocket hasn’t replied to any of my tickets in over 2 days now since this happened and some of their listed phone number don’t even seem to work. It’s pretty strange ’cause i never had a problem with them before, on the contrary, their costumer service used to be quite fast. oh well.

I have no idea what your thing is, but I have bookmarketed-it since it was on digg, waiting for it to come back to see what it is.

Very awesome. I would just like to send a request out to all of the stop-motion artists out there: more boobies, please!
